As one of our much needed sponsors for the next three years, the team from Investec returned for two days of sickling, snedding and eco-piling. Day one started near St.Ouens pond where we recently planted 620 various native hedgerow species as part of the Birds On The Edge project, the team set a cracking pace sickling down all the bracken and other overgrowth in order to allow more light in to encourage growth of the new hedgerow. We are pleased to report that after a head-count of the young plants, only 4% hadn’t made it so far. We then re-located to our Arboretum at Val De La Mare where we continued our ongoing efforts to manage the woodland. The team set about sickling back bramble which was starting to engulf parts of the American Oak Zone, before making and moving several eco-piles which will in short time make great insect habitats, they even had time to sweep out our shed! A massive thank you to everyone for all the help given and for being amazing! We look forward to seeing you all in the planting season…

Report a Tree Protector
We have been planting trees in Jersey for years and we often get reports of tree protectors not degrading as they should over time. If you see one that is clinging to its tree and refusing to give up please let us know. Drop us an email with the location and we'll get it removed.
