RUBiS Photo Competition 2018

Competition now closed – Judging taking place !

We’ve had a great response this year with more entries than ever so judges are now busy judging away. results will be announced shortly.

Take a picture of it for our ‘Trees We Love’ competition and help raise awareness for essential projects in Jersey and Guernsey.

The competition is being run jointly by Jersey Trees for Life and Guernsey Trees for Life, supported by RUBiS. You could win a great prize and have your picture featured in the RUBiS 2019 Calendar.

Your tree must be in the Channel Islands and we need to receive entries by the 28th of September 2018.

 

Categories:

Open Category

Adult: age 18 and over.
One winner will be chosen from Jersey and one from Guernsey. Winners will each receive £500 credit to their RUBiS card (or a pre-loaded RUBiS card for new customers)

School/Junior Category

Age under 18 at closing date (28th September).
One winner will be chosen from Jersey and one from Guernsey. Winners will receive a £200 Amazon voucher

When emailing your image please include the photographers name and contact details and the location the photograph was taken. Full Ts & Cs are below or downloadable separately. Try and send good quality images – not too small, but preferably not over 10meg in size.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

1. ELIGIBILITY
1.1 The competition is open to all residents of the Channel Islands.
1.2 Images that have won prizes in prior competitions, or have been used for commercial
purposes and or been published will not be eligible.
1.3 An image can only be submitted for the Open or Schools categories, not both. Any image
which is submitted for both categories will be considered ineligible.
2. SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES
2.1 Images of not more than 5 MB in size must be submitted online to
education@jerseytreesforlife.org and the organiser may request for higher resolution
images subsequently. The original images should be at least 3 MB in size as winning images
will be printed and exhibited. Shortlisted finalists will be notified via email to submit their
original images within a week for judging.
2.2 Submitted images should be in JPEG format.
2.3 Each participant can submit up to three (3) images.
2.4 Each submitted image must be accompanied by the written confirmation on the entry
form of the location of the tree.
2.4 Digital manipulation that distorts the reality of the images will not be allowed. Only basic
enhancements such as sharpening, contrast adjustment, or simple cropping will be allowed.
2.5 The organiser reserves the right to reject images with incomplete details required under
the photo submission page.

2.6 The Closing deadline for entries is Closing date for entries is Friday 28th September
2018, before 11.59pm.
2.7 All submitted images are non-returnable. The file name for each image should be clearly
labelled with the participant’s name and where the image was taken.
2.8 Participants are entirely responsible for all entry-related costs.
3. COPYRIGHT/INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
3.1 Each image submitted must be the original and unpublished work of the participant who
must also be its copyright owner.
3.2 The participant shall retain copyright to the image entered for the competition.
3.3 By submitting an image for the competition, the participant will be regarded as having
granted the organiser the right to use the image in print, broadcast and or electronic media
without any fee payment, for the purposes of promoting the competition or areas related to
the organiser’s work.
3.4 Submitted images may be used for the 2019 Rubis calendar and other future
promotional literature.
4. PRIZES
4.1 Prizes are non-transferrable and non-exchangeable for cash or in kind.
4.2 The organiser reserves the right to change or replace the competition prizes and/or
modify the rules and regulations of the competition as and when necessary, without prior
notice.
4.3 The organiser shall not be liable for any fault with any of the prizes.
4.4 One Adult winner in Jersey and one in Guernsey will receive a £500 credit to their Rubis
Card or a pre-loaded Rubis Card for new customers.
4.5 One School / Junior winner (18 years of age or under) in Jersey and one in Guernsey will
receive a £200 Amazon voucher.
4.6 Each winner will receive a free 2019 Rubis calendar.
5. JUDGING AND RESULTS
5.1 Images will be selected by an independent panel of judges and their decision is final.
No correspondence pertaining to the selection process and decision will be entertained.
5.2 Winning entries and some other entries will be displayed publicly in Jersey and Guernsey
at venues to be announced and winners will also be notified via email.
6. ACCEPTANCE OF RULES AND REGULATIONS
6.1 By submitting an image for the competition, the participant will be regarded as having
accepted and agreed to be bound by the rules and regulations of the competition.
6.2 While the organiser will exercise due care during the collection, selection and storage of
images, it shall not be held liable for any loss, theft or destruction of the images.
7. ORGANISERS
7.1 The “Trees We Love” photography competition is organised by Jersey Trees for Life and
Guernsey Trees for Life.
