Have you ever wondered which are Jersey’s finest trees?
If you have, then you will be pleased to learn that the answer to that question is held in a long list of trees held by Jersey Trees for Life some of which will be highligted on this website in the coming months. About 15 trees in Jersey have sufficient girth or height to be considered ‘national champions’ that’s to say they’re one of the finest specimens of their species in Great Britain. Also recorded are trees which, for a specific species, are ‘island champions’. Dr Owen Johnson, Chief Recorder of the Tree Register of the British Isles (TROBI), visited the island in 2003 and confirmed the entries. As mentioned elsewhere on this site, we are delighted that he will be returning to Jersey in May.
