We’ve been successful with our application to plant up an area on the west side of Gibraltar Rock at St.Catherines which is currently fenced off. Ports of Jersey recently removed some temporary safety barriers on site and, after consultation with our Tree expert Conrad Evans, decided a natural barrier of various native plant species was more appropriate.
As the area identified for planting has a number of large boulders, and with a limited amount of soil depth, our first task was to add 20 x Tonnes of extra topsoil which will hopefully enable us to plant approx. 250 whips.
The topsoil is now in place and after a period of settling the soil will be ready for planting. it is anticipated that in the future, once the new plants have sufficient growth, the existing fence will be removed completely.
